I was recently asked, by the lovely Clemmie over at My Little Piccolo, if I would like to get creative in the kitchen come up with something special to celebrate Piccolo’s first birthday. Of course I said ‘HELL YEAH’.
I mean, who am I to turn down such a solid excuse to make and eat cake?
After a lot of deliberation, I decided to go with a cheesecake. I chose a cheesecake for two main reasons:
- I make them ALL THE TIME and kind of know what I am doing, and
- You can’t really mess it up (which is a good thing for me).
I love baking cakes, muffins or cookies but more often that not for every good batch I make there is about two that go terribly wrong. Plus, I can’t be trusted with the oven. I forget that stuff is in there, or I forget to set a timer and just guess timings (usually I am VERY wrong). Also, whenever the sun appears I always picture myself sitting outside at night time with a slice of fruity cheesecake and a cuppa. I really love cheesecake if you haven’t already guessed…
We chose to incorporate one of Milos favourite Piccolo pouch flavours into the cheesecake: Banana, Blueberry & Apple, so that he can enjoy this with us.
Here is our Recipe:
After a really stressful couple of months at Uni it has been so nice to think about something else again for a change. I used to being in the kitchen and creating delicious treats before I had Milo but lately it had all begun to feel like such a chore. This has been such a lovely thing to be involved in and I just can’t wait for Milo to get older and hopefully he will love helping me bake like I used to love helping my mum.
Here he is ‘helping’ me this afternoon:
I hope you liked this post and maybe it has inspired you to get creative in the kitchen? Let me know! Anyway thanks to My Little Piccolo for asking us to help celebrate their birthday and a huge
from Milo & I xx
